Donte Winrow (2009)
January 6th, 2010
- Johnson Middle School
- Westminster, CA
On January 6, 2010, Donte Winrow an 8th grade student at Johnson Middle School was awarded the Difference Maker Award for his courage in speaking up about disabilities. Students and staff report that Donte is never afraid to confront the assumptions about disabilities and he speaks up about negativity regarding students with disabilities. While Donte used to cover up his own disabilities, he is now open and forthright about having students and staff understand disabilities from the disabled student’s point of view. He is a difference maker on the Johnson campus and we salute his positive work for all students!

Dear Naysha,
That is good that you want to make changes. we don’t really have a counseling staff her at TEEN TRUTH. Do you have a counselor at your school that you can speak with?
I loved speaking at Sequoia, it was fun.
Let me know, if not I can help find one for you.
Best,
JC
