Amanda Hariri (2010)
March 9th, 2010
- Will C. Wood High School
- Vacaville, CA
A Link Leader, the secretary of the Best Buddies program, and a phenomenal student, Amanda Hariri is the essence of what we want our young people to aspire to be. She takes action where she sees a need, she treats others with compassion and kindness, and she truly makes every classroom safe and welcoming to all students. From spearheading the push to make 250 pumpkin pies for holiday baskets, to encouraging others to treat special needs students with respect, Amanda does more than talk; she chooses to lead with her actions. Her vision for better school, a better community, and ultimately, a better world is more than admirable, it is inspirational, and she sets a powerful example that reminds us all of the power and potential in our young people.
Amanda Hariri is our granddaughter (mother’s side) and we are very proud of her. She is holding a 4.0 grade average in her high school and has earned a lot of awards this school year including; Outstanding Student of the Year in Chemistry, Outstanding Student of the Year in English (3yrs in a row)., Solano County Reading Association’s Writing Award, International Difference Makers Award, Student of the Year – Will C. Wood High School Award among others and she has also been invited to attend the International Leadership Conference in Bloomington, Indiana. We feel that she has done well in school this year.
